Ben joined Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors in November 2019.
Ben has acted for both claimant and defendant clients under various funding arrangements. Ben has 4 years’ experience of conducting pre-action correspondence and assisting with litigation in complex professional negligence claims against financial advisers. Subsequently, he formed part of a boutique central London legal team dealing with a variety of complex and politically sensitive cases within the jurisdiction of the High Courts of England & Wales and Northern Ireland, including a potential action for (amongst other causes of action) misfeasance in public office, acting for a defendant in difficult breach of privacy and confidentiality and misuse of private information proceedings, and acting for claimants in a claim for damages against an alleged terrorist. Subsequent still, and in the 2 years prior to joining HJA, Ben managed a mixed and varied case load of criminal defence cases (including successfully advising and advocating for defendants in magistrates’ courts in criminal proceedings), pre-action contentious probate and Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims, as well as both pre-action and litigated company shareholder disputes.

Personal Interests
Before qualifying as a solicitor, Ben worked in a grass-roots international charity, within the civil service at what is now the First-tier Tribunal (Care Standards) and, prior to completing his Graduate Diploma in Law, in France for 18 months. Ben has run 2 marathons for charity – Edinburgh in 2003 and London in 2007 – his times for which were an unplanned 2 seconds apart! In his spare time Ben plays badminton in Kent and 5 a-side football in London, as well as regularly threatening to and sometimes actually picking up a paint brush and applying paint to canvas. Travelling and surfing have been keen interests, which he hopes to reignite and pass on to his young children with the planned future purchase of a campervan.
