About Rebecca Coates

Rebecca is a Senior Associate in the Family Team, having joined the Firm in October 2023. She is also collaboratively trained and a member of Resolution.

Rebecca has specialised in family law throughout her career and has advised on a full range of family matters arising from the breakdown of a relationship between married couples, civil partners and unmarried couples.

Her practice extends to child arrangements and Family Law Act injunctions. This has included acting on behalf of parents in 16.4 cases and representing parties in cases requiring extensive Fact-Finding Hearings.

Rebecca has attained Specialised Accreditation from Resolution in both Children Law- Private and Cohabitation and Trusts and Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.

Prior to joining to Hodge Jones & Allen, Rebecca gained substantial experience from a nationwide specialist family law firm. Some of her most recent cases involve enforcement of financial orders, acting on behalf of clients with substantial business interests and successfully obtaining legal funding and interim maintenance for clients.

Rebecca strives to achieve the best possible outcome for all of her clients. She is a firm believer in negotiating client-focused amicable settlements, where possible, but has a strong and robust approach to court litigation if required.

Notable Cases

Rebecca has acted for both Husbands and Wives in financial remedy proceedings which often require forensic accountants and substantive business assets. She has acted for Mothers and Fathers in highly contested Child Arrangements matters which involve serious allegations of harm.

Most recently, she has acted on behalf of a set in parents in a grandparent’s application for contact.
