We work closely with Just for Kids Law – a charitable organisation based at our office.
Just for Kids Law delivers holistic, client-led support to children and young people from crisis to stability and onwards into independence. They do this through innovative, community-based legal representation, advocacy and opportunities programme.
Every young person we represent is eligible to access their additional services at no cost. Their services are designed to assist with issues such as education, employment, training, housing and generally being an addition form of support.
The aim of our work with them is to ensure that all the needs of young people are met, not just in respect of their contact with the criminal justice system.
Our experience is that the combination of our services enables young people to obtain the best result in the criminal justice system and go on to lead productive lives increasing the likelihood that they will not need our criminal defence services in the future.
In addition to our work with Just for Kids Law our youth team endeavours to work with as many organisations as possible to educate and support young people in respect of their contact with the criminal justice system. The range of activities includes our monthly drop in advice service at New Horizons Youth club, inspections of detention facilities with the Zahid Mubarek Trust, the Stop and Search Legal Project through to workshops at local schools and youth clubs. In the last year we have provided in excess of 15 sessions to schools youth clubs on a pro bono basis.
