Club Inégales – Shirley Smart, Kate Shortt & Tommie Black-Roff

Date: 8th December 2016

Our penultimate gig of the season is a night of firsts – three artists all making their début at the club. Shirley and Kate are both incredibly versatile cellists who bring a huge range of influences to their playing, everything from classical and cabaret repertoire through to jazz and Arabic sources. Whilst, Tommie’s accordion playing takes in everything from the Cornish folk music of his childhood to the musical traditions of South Africa and India.

For this evening’s sets, Shirley and Tommie join forces to explore their combined musical influences through jazz standards, world music and improvisation and Kate performs her unique musical comedy work in a cabaret-style show. Don’t miss this inquisitive and experimental exploration of the cello!
