Personal Injury
We understand the impact a brain injury can have on the lives of you and your loved ones. A brain injury can leave the victim unable to lead a normal life, potentially needing around the clock care. So getting the right support is vital.
We understand the shock and devastation that parents will feel if their child has suffered a brain injury, as well as concerns about how their child’s complex needs will be met now, and in the future. We will work hard to obtain the best financial settlement to address these concerns and ensure arrangements are in place to protect your child should anything happen to you.
Our specialist solicitors will provide practical and emotional support to help you adapt to changes in your life following your child’s brain injury. For example, we understand the importance of education as a form of rehabilitation for your child and we will assist in communicating with their school and other education professionals so that your child can still learn, develop and maximise their potential.
We have a close connection with the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) and support brain injured children in having the best quality of life possible.
Leticia Williams is exceptional – she is one of the best solicitors practising in this field that I have come across. Her client care is exceptional, and she always manages to strike an appropriate balance between tenaciously fighting for the best possible settlement, yet also knowing when to settle a claim at the point when its settlement value is the highest.
Our personal injury solicitors will always fight to get the very best results for you. Get in touch for a confidential, no obligation chat to find out the best options for you.
Our family are extremely grateful to Riffat and her team. Great respect for them for the extraordinary hard work they do for our family.
Our specialist brain injury solicitors understand that each client has different needs and we adopt a holistic approach to address those needs.
We appreciate the importance of arranging fast and effective rehabilitation when a client has suffered a brain injury and work with medical professionals, and with the other party’s insurers, to ensure an early rehabilitation package is put in place.
We will also seek an early compensation payment (known as an interim payment) to lessen the financial impact of the injury.
Client’s parents’ appreciation of the work done for Martin.
Martin’s case was complicated and thus took long time. Our experience is that Ms Yaqub has handled it with great patience, skillfulness and kindness. But she also had the courage to go to the Swedish authorities to have Martin’s “God Man” dismissed when the “God Man” did not cooperate in Martin’s favour. We strongly believe that a new “God Man” will serve Martin better in many respects and are very happy for Ms Yaqub’s acting.
The settlement achieved gives Martin good economical possibilities to have more physiotherapy and new training for example to help himself in the bathroom. He can afford a music therapist and some travelling. Presently, we are in negotiation for Martin to buy a 94 m2 apartment designed for disabled persons located in Älvsjö near public communications. There are three bedrooms so Martin can have friends visiting overnight.
Thus we heartily recommend Ms Riffat Yaqub to defend the rights of brain-injured persons.” Martin’s Parents

Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors is doing great in assisting claiming for their client. Karen Mann and her team did a great job for me as well. Karen is always available to provide me necessary information regarding my case and support. Thank you very much Karen and the members of your team.
Accident Circumstances – Karen Mann’s client was driving a car on a 30mph road and was required to perform an emergency stop due to a child running out into the road. The emergency stop was successful but another car driving behind the client collided with the rear of her vehicle. The police attended and the client went to hospital. What was thought to have been a straightforward rear end shunt on a 30mph road became somewhat complex. Subsequent Injuries – The Client suffered a brief period of unconsciousness. She was diagnosed with a severe concussion and whiplash injuries to the neck, back and shoulders. She experienced symptoms including memory loss, amnesia, headaches and dizziness and slurred speech in addition to executive functioning difficulties and brain fog. Medico legal reports were obtained from a neurologist, audio vestibular expert and neuropsychiatrist and neuropsychologist. A Functional Neurological disorder was confirmed. The Client was unable to return to work due to the injuries but wanted to engage with rehabilitation to try and get back to as close as possible the quality of life she had before the accident. Early on Karen secured an Immediate Needs Assessment (INA) which set out the rehabilitation steps needed, which the driver’s insurer funded. This included treatment and investigations. Although liability was admitted early on, Karen’s opponents sought to argue that all the presenting ill health was a direct consequence of the accident. The driver’s insurer felt that at two years post-accident her condition had sufficiently stabilised to enable the parties to consider settlement figures. Despite the whole medical evidence not being quite complete, with Karen’s experience and that of a barrister, she was happy to confirm that the client should accept a sum of £450,000. Karen’s client wanted to get back to having some normality in her life and utilise part of the compensation for her ongoing rehabilitation. The compensation would also mean she did not need to return to work until had reached a greater stage of recovery. Initially offers were made in the region of £250,000, then increasing to £350,000. Settlement was then negotiated at £450,000.

Our client was out jogging with his headphones on along his usual route. He was crossing a side road when a bus turned into that road and into collision with him. Liability was denied in full on the basis the driver alleged that our client suddenly appeared before him giving him no opportunity to avoid the collision. Our client suffered a moderately-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) evidenced by a right occipital skull fracture with bilateral subarachnoid haemorrhage and subdural haematoma, a brief period of immediate loss of consciousness, initially reduced GCS and a period of post-traumatic amnesia lasting up to 24 hours. Multiple rib fractures. A comminuted fracture of the olecranon (left elbow) and an injury to the left ring finger. He suffered a psychological injury. Read more
