Leeds Trinity University Unveils New Personal Injury Clinic with Hodge Jones & Allen To Offer Free Legal Advice To The Local Community

A free legal clinic is to be launched following a partnership between Hodge Jones and Allen and Leeds Trinity University. The initiative, focusing on the area of personal injury law, will see top quality legal advice delivered to local residents while at the same time developing work experience opportunities for Leeds Trinity University students.

The Clinic will benefit from the expertise of Daniel Denton, Personal Injury Partner at Hodge Jones & Allen, and will provide free legal advice and assistance to members of the public who are otherwise unable to access justice, whilst giving students key development opportunities. Clients can receive free advice via Zoom, Teams, telephone or speak directly to the Clinic.

Daniel Denton has over two decades of experience in representing clients with significant and often life-changing injuries. Daniel will lead and support Leeds Trinity University’s Law School students in gaining experience in the area of personal injury law. The initiative will enhance the employability of students, exposing them to real-life cases whilst having a significant positive impact on the local community by supporting individuals in need.

Founded in 1966 as two teacher training colleges which gained University College status in 2009 and full University status in 2012, Leeds Trinity University has a vision to become a leading career-led and applied university, where students achieve outstanding outcomes. It operates across two campuses: a Main Campus in Horsforth, home to courses in teacher training, health and life sciences, psychology, sport, and journalism, and a City Campus, which opened in October 2024 in the heart of Leeds, and is home to courses in law, business, computer science, criminology, and construction. Leeds Trinity is ranked 2nd in the UK for teaching quality and student experience (The Times Good University Guide 2026) and joint first for learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, student voice and Students’ Union (National Student Survey 2026), with 96% of graduates in employment or further study 15 months after graduating (Graduate Outcomes, Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) 2024).

The Law School at Leeds Trinity University is ranked 9th in the UK by The Guardian University Guide 2025. All courses in the Law School offer professional work placements as a core part of learning, with opportunities such as the Law Clinic equipping students with the skills needed for a career in the legal field.

This innovative partnership between Leeds Trinity University and Hodge Jones & Allen underscores their combined commitment to social justice and education, and represents a significant step forward in bridging the gap between legal education and practical application, preparing students to enter the legal field as competent, experienced professionals while fulfilling a crucial community service.

Dr Simon Best, Associate Professor in Law, at Leeds Trinity University, commented on the collaboration: “This partnership between Leeds Trinity University and Hodge Jones & Allen is a fantastic initiative, providing free legal advice to the public while offering students valuable real-world experience. It bridges the gap between legal education and practice, benefiting both the community and the development of future legal professionals.”

It provides a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain hands on experience and develop their understanding and skills in a professional setting which allows them to bring the things learned in our classrooms to life.’

Daniel Denton, Personal Injury Partner at Hodge Jones & Allen commented, “We look forward to working with the law students at Leeds Trinity University. It is important to continue raising the visibility of important personal injury claims and making them more accessible. The exposure to real-life cases will be invaluable to students.”
