New partner brings another perspective to Criminal Defence team at Hodge Jones & Allen

Atiyah Malik, a highly experienced criminal defence solicitor with an in-depth knowledge of regulatory and criminal law has joined London law firm Hodge Jones & Allen (HJA) from Osborn Abas Hunt. Atiyah was previously a partner and senior member of Berrymans Lace Mawer’s Safety, Health & Environment department. Her specialist areas are health and safety, environmental, regulatory defence and compliance work.

Atiyah becomes the ninth partner in HJA’s crime team, each acknowledged as experts in their particular field of criminal law.

Nigel Richardson, senior partner and head of the crime team at Hodge Jones & Allen, said “Atiyah is a recognised expert in her field and will bring another perspective to our growing team. She will be a huge asset.“

Atiyah is a regular commentator on health and safety issues, writing in legal journals and speaking at national conferences such as the IIRSM annual update, H&S Expo and the IOSH National Conference over the years. She is an accomplished advocate and appears in the Coroner’s court, Magistrates’ court and at the early stages in the Crown Court.

Commenting on her appointment, Atiyah said “HJA has long been recognised as one of London’s leading practices with a fresh and modern outlook on the service they provide their clients. I am delighted to join them and I am looking forward to developing the regulatory defence practice here further.”
