Camden duo to kick-off annual charity football tournament

Camden law firm Hodge Jones & Allen (HJA) and neighbouring charity, Just for Kids Law are set to stage their annual charity football tournament.

Now in its sixth year, barristers, lawyers and community organisations will don their football boots on Saturday 23 September 2017 to be crowned the Charity Cup 2017 Winners. The event will be opened by former England and Surrey cricketer, Zafar Ansari, who is now a trainee youth advocate for Just for Kids Law.

Each team has contributed £260 to participate, with the proceeds going to Just for Kids Law, which provides support, advice and legal representation for young people in difficulty.

The tournament will be played at the Rocks Lane Multi Sports Centre, 60 Chiswick Common Road, Chiswick,W4 1RZ between 12.30pm and 4.30pm and supporters are very welcome to come along. It is free to attend.

Michael Ackah, a criminal defence solicitor at Hodge Jones & Allen will captain the team. He says: “It’s good to put our professional rivalries aside and come together to generate much-needed funds for vulnerable young people who find themselves caught up in the justice system.”

Shauneen Lambe, joint CEO at Just for Kids Law, says: “The funds raised through the tournament provide vital support to our legal and advocacy work with young people, and allow us to maintain our independence in effectively challenging injustice.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Hodge Jones and Allen who kindly provided us with office space for a number of years before we were able to move into our own headquarters earlier this year.’’

Last year’s tournament raised £4,000 which Just for Kids used to fund its Let us Learn campaign.
