What does it really mean to be an ethical employer? Hodge Jones & Allen Employment Team kick off ethical employment law podcast series

The latest episode of The London Legal Podcast is now online, featuring solicitors in our Employment Law team discussing what it means to be an ethical employer. The episode is the first in a new series looking at ethical employment law and features Susie Al-Qassab, Head of our Employment team, along with Homa Wilson and Neil Emery, both Partners in the team.

Susie, Homa and Neil first explain what it means to be an ethical employer and discuss how taking an ethical approach to business can be beneficial for the organisation. They look at how Channel 4 has recently taken public steps to demonstrate its ethical credentials as an employer, as well as a broadcaster, leading to increased employee satisfaction throughout the company.

On the contrary, the team look also at how the beer company, Brewdog has come under fire in recent weeks for “ethics washing” – talking the talk about being an ethical employer, but not walking the walk.

Listen to the podcast now via SoundCloud or YouTube and make sure to subscribe to us on either platform to stay up to date with the The London Legal Podcast. The next episodes in the ethical employment series will look at how other employment law issues from an ethical employer’s angle, from redundancies to grievances, contracts to whistleblowing, and how businesses can benefit from taking a more values-driven approach.
