About Rónán Stewart
Rónán is a solicitor in the Civil Liberties and Human Rights team working on a variety of cases including inquests arising from deaths in police and prison custody and civil claims on behalf of clients who have been subjected to unlawful treatment by police and other state bodies.
Rónán completed his training contract at Hodge Jones & Allen in June 2025 having done seats in the Civil Liberties, Crime, Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury departments.
Before this Rónán was a paralegal in our Civil Liberties team where he assisted Jocelyn Cockburn, Susie Labinjoh, Gimhani Eriyagolla and Bríd Doherty on a varied and complex case load including inquests and civil claims against the police and public authorities.
Prior to joining Hodge Jones & Allen, Rónán was a criminal defence paralegal at a leading criminal defence and human rights firm in Belfast. Before this he interned at REDRESS working on a number of international human rights matters with a focus on representing victims of torture. He also volunteered for the Victims’ Rights Working Group to monitor International Criminal Court developments.
