O2 Climb To Raise Funds For The Limbless Association on 1 October 2026
With less than 8 days to go to the big climb up the O2 in Greenwich, it is time for me to offer some words of support, but more than that to recognise the challenge amputees are willing to undertake to raise money for the Limbless Association.
The climb is 380 metres along the dome’s roof on a fabric path which can give a slight bounce. The incline will be 28 degrees going up and 30 degrees coming down and is expected to take about 90 minutes. I am sure that the effort of the climb is worth it for the sense of achievement of having accomplished the feat, and to enjoy the 360-degree panoramic views of Canary Wharf, historic Greenwich, the Olympic Park, River Thames, and the central London skyline, all of which are magnificent.
Julia, one of the amputees who is taking on the challenge says that the climb will push her out of her comfort zone and she is pleased to do it to raise money for the Limbless Association. Mike, another amputee doing the climb, says “bring it on”!
I love their attitudes! It represents the challenges amputees face each day which they face with good humour. It also reminds me of a famous quote from US author and motivational speaker Zig Ziglar who says “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude”!
Some interesting facts about the O2 is that the dome’s diameter is 365 meters (one meter for every day of the year), with 12 support spikes (representing each month), and it stands 52 meters tall (for each week of the year).
Jack Foran, Jake Dolendo Hernandez, Cevahniaire Charles and I (Ruchi Fowle) from Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors (HJA) will be taking on the challenge of climbing the O2 alongside the amputees, their friends and family members. Others from HJA will be on the ground to cheer those doing the climb and to help celebrate with them afterwards.
