About Shevonne Weir

Shevonne gained experience within family law while working at a mixture of London and Essex based firms, listed within the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. During this time she had conduct of matters that were reported and are now utilised as legal precedence: Medway Council v Root [2019] EWHC 669 (Fam) Root v Medway Council (Application to Purge Contempt) [2019] EWHC 1640 (Fam).

Shevonne commenced her training contract with an Essex based Legal 500 listed firm, in 2019 and qualified as a solicitor in March 2021. She remained with that firm as a family law solicitor, until joining another Essex based, Tier 1 rated, Legal 500 listed firm in April 2022. Shevonne then joined Hodge Jones and Allen in 2026 as an associate within the Family Department.

Shevonne has significant experience advising both applicants and respondents in respect of injunction applications and seeks to achieve the best result for the client whether this be a substantive order or pursuing a speedy conclusion to proceedings by way of an alternative agreement. This was aided by working in the legal department of a domestic abuse charity between 2015- 2016.

Her practice areas also cover child arrangement orders (order concerning who a child will live with, who a child will spend time with, orders concerning specific issues such as which school a child will attend or whether a child should have a passport, orders to prohibit actions by the other parent such as removal from the country and similarly applications to remove a child from the Jurisdiction to live in other countries.

When orders have been granted by the family court, Shevonne is confident in assisting clients in seeking enforcement of those orders.

She also has experience advising on divorce and financial remedy proceedings, where she takes an empathetic yet practical and equitable approach to advising and addressing separation and the division of assets. Her knowledge also extends to advising unmarried couples on cohabitation matters.

She has acted for client in respect of transfer of tenancy applications too.
