Lack of neurologists at Whipps Cross Hosptial could lead to repeat of mother’s death, coroner warns

Posted on 2nd June 2016

A lack of specialist neurologists at Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone poses a risk of future patient deaths, a coroner has warned.

Assistant Coroner for Inner London North, Richard Brittain, has sent a report to Barts NHS Trust, which is responsible for Whipps Cross, following the death of 51-year-old Marina Fagan.

The report follows an inquest on April 22 into the death of the Chingford mother-of-four, who died from a rare neurological condition, Posterior Reversable Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES).

Family of Mrs Fagan was represented by Andrew Harrison, a partner at  Hodge Jones & Allen
