About Megan Finnis

Megan is a solicitor in the Civil Liberties & Human Rights team, where she assists Cormac McDonough in a varied and complex case load, acting for families bereaved by deaths in custody or state care, prisoners and those who have suffered an injustice by public authorities. Megan acts in civil claims for clients who have been subjected to unlawful treatment by the police and other state bodies, including claims for damages following assaults, unlawful arrests, discrimination, prosecutions and human rights breaches. Her inquest work covers Article 2 ECHR inquests including deaths in prison, police custody and mental health care settings.

Megan joined Hodge Jones and Allen in 2019 as a paralegal in the civil liberties department, where she assisted Jocelyn Cockburn predominantly on Article 2 inquests and associated civil claims against state bodies. She later completed her training contract with the firm, completing seats in the Clinical Negligence, Social Housing, Personal Injury, Crime and Civil Liberties teams.

Prior to joining the firm, Megan worked at Hickman & Rose solicitors as a paralegal in their Civil Liberties team and volunteered at a number of organisations with an ethos of promoting access to justice, including law centres, the CAB and human rights organisations.
