Barmaid Accident at Work

Personal Injury case report: Barmaid Receives £2,500 in Compensation

Our client, a 27 year old barmaid, was at work when she fell and injured herself.

On the evening of the accident, she had been collecting empty glasses at the end of the night when she slipped on a substance on the floor. As a result of her fall, she sustained bruising to her thigh and lost half of one of her front teeth.

We alleged that the bar had been negligent in failing to carry out a proper system of inspection and cleaning. The bar denied responsibility for our client's accident and claimed that, although they did not have any inspection or cleaning rota, they kept a continual eye on the cleanliness of the bar and floor surfaces, and cleaning was carried out when required.

On our client's behalf, we offered to settle the claim on the basis that the bar was 50% responsible for the accident. The bar agreed to this percentage of responsibility. We managed to negotiate a settlement of £2,500 for our client. This settlement included amounts for the client's pain, suffering and loss of amenity, together with the temporary dental treatment and future dental treatment that she would require.
