Housing Benefit

Housing Law case report: Housing Benefit

Housing Benefit

Ms S had accrued significant rent arrears after her Housing Benefit claim had been suspended because she had not responded to letters from the Housing Benefit department.

We made representations to the Housing Benefit department explaining that she had not received their letters and that as soon as she had found out about the suspension of her Housing Benefit claim she had made a new claim.

The Housing Benefit department accepted that she had acted promptly to restore her claim so she was awarded a backdated Housing Benefit payment of £5,000.
