Case Report: Murder

Our client was charged with murder following the death of his
friend. They had been arguing and our client had punched the
victim. He had fallen on the ground, hitting his head, and
died three days later from a brain injury.
Our client initially fled the jurisdiction and was subsequently
ordered back to the UK. Our defence centred on self defence
and issues relating to causation.
Our client was convicted of manslaughter but as a result of our
defence, including some unusual facts of the case and other good
mitigation put forward on his behalf, he received a much shorter
sentence than he might otherwise have been given.
