Housing team ‘top tier’ in Legal 500 2011
Latest UK edition of the leading legal directory also
recognises serious fraud team and a record 14 solicitors
27th September 2011
Hodge Jones & Allen LLP has been recommended as a Top
Tier Firm for the work achieved by the Housing law team, in the
Legal 500 2011 UK Directory, published last week. The
directory describes the team as “dynamic and committed,
advising on all aspects of tenant matters”. All three of the
housing law team partners,
Ian Greenidge,
Jayesh Kunwardia and
Farzana Chowdhury, have been singled out for
recommendation.
The directory has recommended the firm in
all eight of our practice areas, namely: Crime (Tier 2 rank); Fraud (white-collar crime); Clinical negligence
(claimant); Personal
injury (claimant); Family; Administrative and public law; Civil
liberties and human rights; and Social Housing (tenant) as mentioned above.
Fraud team new entry
Serious Fraud is ranked for the first time
this year. Clinical Negligence and Civil Liberties teams both
increase their rankings and the other teams all maintain their
positions from last year.
Leading Lawyers
Two HJA lawyers are listed in the elite
"Leading lawyers" list, The Legal 500 United Kingdom 2011's guide
to outstanding lawyers nationwide. These are
Nigel Richardson (Crime) and
Jocelyn Cockburn (Civil Liberties).
In total, 14 lawyers have been recommended in
The Legal 500 United Kingdom 2011 editorial. This has increased
from six lawyers recommended in the 2010 edition. The other 12
are:

researcher comments: “Clients can trust that the standard and
professionalism will be of the highest order. She is a breath of
fresh air.”
Nina Ali and Olivia Lawson are recognised for Clinical
negligence (claimant) – described as “particularly good ...
combining excellent case management skills with very good client
care.”
Within the Personal injury (claimant) team
“legend”
Patrick Allen and “down to earth”
Peter Todd were recommended.
Head of Family Law team,
Toby Hales, is recommended, as were an additional three members
of the Civil liberties and human rights team, (apart from Jocelyn,
mentioned above). These are the “highly intelligent and
persuasive”
Anna-Louise Thwaites, “rising star”
Sasha Barton and
Susie Labinjoh who is “prepared to fight”.
The Legal 500 Series, now in its 25th year, is
widely acknowledged as the world’s largest legal referral guide.
This year, more than 180,000 in-house counsel and lawyers have been
surveyed and interviewed globally. The Legal 500 is an independent
guide, and firms and individuals are recommended purely on
merit.
