HJA is stepping up to beat blood cancers in the 24 hour 3 Peaks Challenge

Gruelling 24 hour challenge in memory of HJA founder Henry Hodge

9th June 2011

Ben NevisIn a week's time, a team of colleagues and business partners from law firm Hodge Jones & Allen LLP will be taking on the 24 Hour Three Peaks Challenge in support of blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The Hodge Jones & Allen Three Peaks Team will consist of 24 people. It is being led from the front by the firm’s Senior Partner, Patrick Allen. HJA is raising money in memory of Henry Hodge, Patrick’s co-founder of the company, who died of leukaemia in June 2009.  The firm will be fundraising to support the charity’s lifesaving research into better treatments and cures for all blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Setting off early on Thursday 16 June, the team plan to conquer Ben Nevis before nightfall, ahead of a seven hour overnight drive to Scafell Pike in The Lake District before finally finishing another 200 miles away at the base of Mt Snowdon in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.

Patrick Allen, Senior Partner at Hodge Jones & Allen LLP in Euston said: “We know it’s going to be incredibly hard work but we are really looking forward to completing this challenge together as a team. We are grateful to the fantastic support being shown by our colleagues, business partners and friends of the firm and we hope to reach our fundraising target before we reach the final summit!”

The team aims to raise over £10,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. As well as individual fundraising, the team have already organised a successful quiz night and later in June are planning a Cocktail Masterclass in the firm’s bar. On Monday 30th May, 21 runners from the firm completed the BUPA 10km run for Leukaemia Research - a separate challenge which raised over £2k.

Kate White, Director of Fundraising at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, said: “Best of luck to the Hodge Jones & Allen team. It’s a massive challenge and the money they raise will help improve treatments for all patients with blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.”
