HJA go gardening at Spinal Injury Centre
24th February 2011
HJA and SIA enjoy a day gardening in the rain at
the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville
When the invitation from the Spinal Injuries Association
(SIA) arrived to take a team to go gardening
at the National
Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC), Hodge Jones & Allen's
lawyers rolled up their sleeves and responded with a positive
'yes'. However, that was back in June last year, when the sun was
out!

A few months later and the date gets fixed for February. Cold!
Wet! ... and still the answer is 'yes, we'll be there'. The
objective, to clear an enclosed courtyard of weeds and bushes,
digging through all the beds and borders, in order to make way for
a brand new garden which will be enjoyed by the
long-term patients.
Andrew
Ewbank, Head of Marketing at Hodge Jones & Allen LLP,
commented: "Having just completed a very full charity of the year
partnership with Spinal Injuries Association in 2010, this was a
very rewarding day, to visit the largest spinal centre in the
country. Just passing through the corridors of the building, I
could see first hand the immense challenges that patients face
on an hourly basis, as they begin the long road of adjusting to
their new way of life. I counted it a privilege to have four
working limbs in which to be able to do the work."
Thanks goes to Stephanie Corbett, Corporate Relations
Manager at SIA, for arranging the day.
