Four HJA trainees admitted
Four more HJA trainee solicitors admitted
19th March 2010
Four trainees at Hodge Jones & Allen LLP
have successfully been admitted as solicitors in March 2010.
Perveen Malik,
Kim Green,
Alison Vaughan and
Lewis Forrest (pictured l to r) have all completed an 18 month
(normally 2 years but shorter due to prior experience as
paralegals) training programme offered by the firm. They have now
taken up respective positions in the Criminal Defence, Personal
Injury and Family teams in the firm.
Perveen Malik, who recently qualified, comments about
her training: “The variety of work and the responsibility given to
trainees here is fantastic. I had real experience working with an
experienced partner on murder cases, divorces, and multi-party
accident claims. I’m thrilled to have a career ahead of me as a
solicitor in the crime team as this is what I love doing most of
all.”
Peter Todd, a partner at Hodge Jones & Allen who oversees
the firm’s trainee recruitment process comments: “When recruiting
for trainees, we look for evidence of a desire to pursue a career
in private practice in our areas of law and of sympathy with the
values of this firm; we also take into account oral and written
communication skills, academic ability and business awareness. This
is a unique firm and is widely regarded in the industry as a
training programme of excellence.”
Hodge Jones & Allen took on its first
trainee a year after it opened in 1977. In recent years the firm
has taken on seven (increasing to 10) trainees each year, many of
whom stay at the firm on qualification. More significantly, several
of the firm’s 21 partners have completed their training contract
here. The firm has a tough but enviable recruitment process, with
several hundred applications received last year.
