The Training Scheme

Hodge Jones & Allen LLP has an extremely popular training scheme for solicitors. Our successful two year Solicitor Training Programme involves four seats of six months in teams of your choice. A trainee shares a room with a partner and is closely supervised. Most of the training is in-house with some formal courses. The work is hard but stimulating. The firm has a mentoring scheme for its trainees, whereby a former recent HJA trainee acts as a mentor for a current trainee.

Two routes

There are two routes into a training contract with Hodge Jones & Allen LLP.

  • Firstly, every September, there is a selection by interview for a training place the following September. We currently select three or four trainees by this route.
  • Secondly, we select trainees after a period of work with us of as a paralegal in one of our teams, perhaps as a police station adviser, civil litigation assistant or housing case worker. From time to time, we advertise for these paralegal places.

We presently have a total of 13 trainees.

Who can apply?

Applications from both law and non-law graduates are welcome. You should be able to demonstrate a consistently high level of academic and personal achievement. We generally expect an upper second class degree.
